Trigger Point Therapy (Myofascial Release)

Move freely and pain-free with Trigger Point Therapy.

In your body there is an interwoven network of tissue called fascia. This covers all the muscles, bones and blood vessels. It is interconnected throughout the body forming large network sheets, much like plastic wrap. This tissue under a microscope is tubular and carries within it fluid. This gives the fascia tissue its elasticity and strength.

The purpose of the fascia is to give your body shape and form, allowing your muscles to move properly. The fascia can become tight, dry and limiting in movement with stress, injury or prolonged strain. This can form trigger points in the fascia and muscle tissue. Many limitations in joint movement, such as shoulder or knee pain can be attributed to poor myofascial mobility and trigger points.

In physical therapy, gentle hands on therapy can be performed to first locate the myofascial restriction trigger points, and then effectively treat them. Through gentle hands-on techniques, the trigger point can be released, leading to immediate pain relief, improved function and movement.
